Acceptance Criteria PDF Print E-mail

Admission is based on a variety of objective and subjective considerations. Our goal is to admit students who are most likely to benefit from our program and who, in turn, are most able to contribute positively to the Oasis community. We welcome intellectually capable and creative students who see learning as a joy and a challenge. We seek students who are adaptable and enthusiastic, and who are inquisitive about the world and their place in it. Social skills, emotional maturity, a sense of humor, independence, and character play a role in our evaluation of each child as well.

We also consider the 'fit' between the child's family and the Oasis educational philosophy, academic goals, and environment. We seek families who appreciate being part of a close-knit community, who value developmentally appropriate learning that fosters academic excellence, who will support our nontraditional innovative approach to teaching and learning, and who enjoy being actively involved in their child's education.

Applications are reviewed in light of the specific openings available. Additional factors considered in the admissions process must necessarily include the need for:

  • gender and grade balance for each multi-age group
  • cultural diversity
  • a healthy mix of personalities.

Children of Oasis staff and siblings of students currently attending Oasis have some priority in our admissions process, although they must meet all criteria and are not guaranteed a space.
